Consultations

A practitioner in the field since the late 1990s, Rachel Torrance, M.Ed., BCBA, COBA, has held many professional roles and often worked in the settings where consultations are provided. Now a seasoned practitioner, Rachel has been providing consultative services for over ten years. Clients benefit from the depth of her knowledge. Recommendations are practical and within the scope of what can be performed in those settings.

As a consultant, Rachel is working with parents, school districts, and private agencies to advocate that clients access appropriate services and achieve desirable outcomes. Approach is team-based and incorporates education and behavior analysis.

Services Provided

  • Ensuring free and appropriate school-based services in the least restrictive environment

  • Assisting with interpreting professional evaluations/assessments

  • Educating families when their child is newly diagnosed

  • Conducting behavior analytic and/or educational assessments such as Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), skill-based assessments (curriculum-based, behavior analytic, social skills, adaptive behavior skills, social communication skills), and classroom-wide assessments

  • Consultations and training using objective data to help drive instruction

  • Developing treatment plans and/or assisting the team in program development. Examples include Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), Behavior Support Plan (BSP), ABA Treatment Plans with the medical necessity model or funded by government agencies (DD Systems), assistance with developing and/or consultations related to Individualized Education Program (IEP) or other educational support plan (private schools), 504-Plan assistance and Independent Education Evaluation (IEE)

  • Training parents/staff on implementing positive supports

  • Navigating insurance to access medically necessary services

  • Consulting with ABA agencies to meet client/student needs
